| 20 or 40 I came upon an interesting television show last night. It's another reality show, similar to the bachelor, but the guy, who is 30, has a mixture of women in their 20s and women in their 40s to choose from. Apparently, the big attraction is wondering whether he will eventually pick a 20 year old or a 40 year old. Predicatably, he chooses to boot off a 20 year old one week and a 40 year old the following week, keeping the ratio even and building suspense. I have mixed feelings about shows such as this one. I don't believe that a guy who dates a lot of women at once and kisses each one of them is setting the stage for future marital monogamy. On the other hand, I am curious as to what goes on inside the male mind. While this one man certainly does not represent all men, I feel that even getting inside one man's mind is very intriquing and worth the time. Furthermore, I am curious what he will choose. There is the perception that men of any age want girls of a 20-something youthful appearance. It's like us women loose are value as we inevitably age. I remember I was working a flight once, and a passenger told me how nice it was to see someone like me working a flight as opposed to these older flight attendants who are more predominant. While I am sure he probably thought he was paying me a compliment, knowing that one day I too will be old, I was quite offended. Did he think about that? | | |
| My xanga blog has been severely neglected. I wonder if anyone reads this anymore, or if my words are slipping into the blackhole of no return? To be safe, I won't right anything too deep or too interesting. My new roommate is great. She is a spiritually mature lady, and so nice. I'm spending a lot of time at the beach and loving it. I've been more introspective these days, meaning, instead of voicing how I feel about spritual matters or what new encounters I've had, I keep it to myself and the Lord. Maybe that will change. | TV and Time Management Several weeks ago, I had several people approach me wondering if I was sad because the Miami Heat were swept by the Detriot Pistons in the playoffs. At least one person was someone I hadn't talked to since last year. No, I wasn't sad. I wasn't even aware. True, at this time last year, I was a crazed Heat fan, checking stats and giving hourly updates to people who could probably care less. But this year is different. Last year, I was on sick leave (and what a gift that was). This year, I am a working woman, and working more than I have in years. So I don't have time to be concerned about the NBA. I dropped some of the TV shows I used to watch. You see, I barely have time to be in the Word, and if I can't be in the Word, I just can't be interested in basketball. Perhaps when things subside, I can renew my interest in this great sport. I did manage to find time for "24" and "Lost." Ok...I haven't seen the finale for Lost, but 24...oh my gosh! How depressing! It was moving in some ways, but what a sad end. Comments from any 24 watchers? | | |
| Moving On... I am pleased to announce that I will be moving to a suburb in which I have never before lived...Mount Prospect. So far, the Chicago suburbs I have lived in are: Lombard, Naperville, Gurnee, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Wheeling, and Palatine. I could probably open my own moving consulting bussiness! The funny thing is, other people seem more upset about my many moves than I am. I like change, and having a wide range of new experiences. Although I was pretty content when I lived in Wheeling with Beckie. However, God has been moving me, and hopefully, I will have a very clear idea of where to settle by the end of the summer. | | |
